Balboa Hospital

Mother to Mother  #8
Mavis MacDowell

Just wanted the Blue Star Mothers to know how much support our Wounded Warriors   get at Balboa Hospital, San Diego.  Balboa put a new amputee wing on the hospital for these conflicts. The  Wounded Warrior Barracks  were packed with volunteers on November 24 th. The San Diego North County Blue Star Mothers were represented and got a round of applause from the hundreds of other volunteers.
We decorated a small tree for each of the warriors. The halls were very festive with Christmas and Hanukkah decorations by noon. There are large trees with fruit and other treats under them on each floor.
Because of the large retired military population in San Diego our sons and daughters are not forgotten when they  are sent to Balboa for recovery.
The BSM also give a dinner once a month for the  recovering military and their families.
